For the first time, IBPO PO examination is conducted online and approximately 18 lakh students from across India are set to appear for it. The first session of the IBPS PO CWE 2013 has been conducted and completed on 19th and 20th October, and the other sessions will be held on 26th, 27th October & 9th, 10th November.
Though we had mentioned Tips for IBPS PO 2013, after the exam conducted on the 19th and 20th October, we received some common feedback from various students as follows:-
I) Though I tried my best but could not appear for all the questions.
Advice – Even the best of the best will not be able to attempt all questions, unless they do the guessing job (oh god please tell me)
II) Quantitative Aptitude was quite difficult, it takes so much time for calculating.
Advice – It involves Math’s, and you have to love the subject to score in this topic, it takes time calculating (especially when calculators are not allowed) we will soon mention some easy tricks to solve math’s problems.
III) English was quite time consuming.
Advice – Yes this will take time, please have a proper plan and time management.
IV) Tough Exam & Negative Marking – Attempted very few Questions.
Advice – Take Risk to a level which favors you, never try to kick the crocodile on his face, you may either lose your leg or life.
So to help the students appearing for the exam on 26th, 27th October & 09th, 10th November we decided to put down some points, which will help you to perform better and not repeat mistakes done by others; after all “learning from others mistakes automatically makes you smarter :)”
Here are some Last Minute Tips for IBPS Exam (PO and Clerk) –
1) Plan Well : Go for the Exam with a proper plan, please keep 3 points in mind when you are planning
a) Limited Time – You have limited time, first attempt the questions you are most sure about.
b) Sectional Cut Off – There is a sectional cut off and over all cut off.
c) Negative Marking – There is negative marking, but you need to take calculated risk.
Try to attempt close to 70% of the questions in every section, you need to manage each section keeping this number in mind (see table below – Approx Questions Possible Attempts; 126 – 141 will be a good number of questions attempted).

2) Time Management : “Don’t Waste Time”, Time Management is the key, if you can manage it well, a big part of the job is done and vice versa. Even have water before the exam starts, every minute is important.
a) It is a 2 hour exam ( just 120 minutes ) and you have to attempt 200 question, which give you just 36 seconds for each question ( this happens with someone obsessed with math’s ). On an average students around 50 % candidates attempted between 100 – 130 questions (see table below – 33 % candidates attempted between 100 – 120 questions). So you can target of attempting 130 – 140 questions (65 % – 70 %), to be on the better side.

b) Along with this remember that you need to clear every section of the paper, so you need to keep attempt around (65 % – 70 %) of the questions in each section, and score around 60 % overall, to be on the better side. A total of 110 is good enough to get you and interview call…definitely.
c) Don’t get stuck on one question – Please do not spend more than 2 minutes on any question (2 minutes are also 2 much to spend), please finish questions and sections which take lesser time (E.g.: Banking Awareness & Computers).
3) Attempt Test in 2 Rounds : Though it may be difficult to do it, but if you do a proper Time Management, it will be easily possible + You can Manage Time well if you attempt the test in 2 rounds.
How to do it:-
a) Attempt Easy First – In each section first answer questions about which you are sure and take lesser time.

b) Tougher 2nd Round – Attempt the tougher questions in the 2nd round. This way, you will score and not miss any easy question in the paper and have a better possibility of clearing the exam with higher score.
c) Round 2 is about Scoring – Even when you attempt round 2, go for sections which have a higher scope of scoring, General Awareness, Computer Knowledge, Reasoning, English and finally Quantitative Aptitude (see table below – Sections Difficulty Level IBPS PO 2013 – 48% found Quantitative Aptitude most difficult)
4) Negative Marking : There is 0.25 negative marks for wrong answer, but no marks are deducted if and answer is left blank – so what you do now?
There is a big dilemma among candidates where to attempt a question, they are not sure of or leave it blank. You can plan this, by taking calculative risk.
a) No Risk – These are candidate who will not attempt if they are not 100% sure of the answer, so you don’t lose any marks but don’t gain either.
b) High Risk – These are candidate who will attempt all questions, irrespective of whether they know the answer or not.
c) Calculative Risk – These are the smartest guys, candidates should attempt questions of which you are somewhat sure (60% +), so if you win you get 1 mark and lose is just 0.25. Even 3 wrong attempts and 1 right one will add up to your score.
5) Practice Online Tests : Practise as many previous papers, online test as possible before the exam, this will help you to understand how much time to allot for each section.
Also try and practise previous ibps po question papers, model papers and self evaluation papers available in various books for IBPS PO.
6) Stay Positive : Most important, stay positive and calm during the test, if you don’t know the answer; move to the next question.
Relax, eat proper and sleep well before the test – you will be at your sharpest on the day.
BankJobsIndia wishes you all the best! Good Luck! God Bless!
