Cracking SBI PO 2014 – Self Preparation vs Joining Coaching Classes

As there are only 2 months left in the arrival of the Big Day – SBI PO Exam Day, and IBPS is expected to release official PO and Clerical Notification soon, the question that is bothering most of the Banking Aspirants is whether to go for Self Preparation or join Coaching Class for cracking the exam and end up in their desired place. Undoubtedly, here aim of every aspirant is same but as there is no generic answer to this question as same medicine cannot suit every patient similarly the answer to this question varies from one individual to another. Here in this article I shall try to answer this question also shall provide you guidelines to select an apt institute for you.

Self Preparation
If you are a student who has above average academics also in the past have prepared for some entrance or aptitude test, or you are an Engineer or an MBA who have their basics clear; Self Preparation may be the right choice for you. However you may join an Institute for Online Test Practice.

  1. Regularly Practice Online Test – There are many free online tests available but I would recommend that for Test Series you may join the institutes. Subscribe to paid Online Test Series of any renowned institute which has all India Presence which provides a benchmark to evaluate your performance.
  2. Daily Revision – Devote at least 4 – 5 hours daily for your studies as your competitors many of which join such classed usually study for 2-3 hour daily in their coaching class. Make and follow a Time Table wherein you can focus on each and every subject.

Joining a Class / Institute
If you are a novice, a person with average academics also if you have never ever prepared for any aptitude/ entrance exam you must join a Specialized Institute for mentoring you. Joining an institute alone won‘t serve the purpose. Thus one needs to be careful in selecting the right institute.

Guidelines for Selecting an appropriate Institute/ Class-

  1. Join a class / institute which offers Online Tests and Study Material. As most of the Exams are online these days Online Tests helps a candidate to manage their time with Speed and Accuracy. Also loitering in the market for sake of books seems pointless.
  2.  Don’t join a newly established place institute for saving few Bucks. Go for a institute which has been functional from at least some time in your city and has proven records.
  3. Ever heard of “Jack of all and master of none” there are few institutes in which single faculty is taking care of the entire Banking syllabus; I would suggest you to stay away from such institutes.

Though joining an Institute is not mandatory but if there is an one which provides the right guidance, you should choose it. Some of the recommended banking institutes are:-
BSC Academy, Career Power, Mahendras, Shabdhani (Bhopal), since these institutes not only provide All India Ranking but also detailed solution report and analysis.

Please Note:- These are unbiased recommendations in Alphabetical Order.
