Is Banking a Good Career Choice for Engineers

Engineers have options available to them that others don’t because of their quantitative background. The two main categories are Trading and IT support roles. Hedge Funds and Prop trading firms and sales trading @ large banks are an highly paid ones. IT support includes the part of operations, risk mid office and back office.

Engineers having a demonstrated interest in finance is still critical as you are good in math and banking is all about having your numbers right. Analysis of risk parameters and working on risk models is where engineers have been preferred. Statistics and analysis holds a key role in the present day banking. NBFC’s also prefer engineering candidates for risk analysis.
